Handling pouches, padded envelopes, mailing bags, or other flat products is a demanding task. We have mastered this for decades using our push-over systems for corner transfer units—designed to change the direction of flow (from lengthwise to crosswise) before the packing machine or to perform sorting tasks. At the Farüchoc chocolate factory in Osnabrück/Germany, for instance, we use our corner transfer system to feed Advent calendars—measuring 14 inches (35 cm) long, 10 inches (25.5 cm) wide, and 0.6 inch (1.5 cm) high—the packing machine. Our system achieves a throughput of 100 units per minute (equating to one calendar every 0.6 seconds) by using push-over boards that travel just above the conveyor belt. Crucial to ensuring safe, gentle, and low-wear continuous operation is that our system pushes these particularly flat, large-format products all the way across and reliably guides them into the new direction of travel.

Proven system for fast handling of flat advent calendars

For this application, the frame, mechanical components, and control system—which have proven their reliability thousands of times over many years—were simply rearranged. The transfer distances and performance capabilities were also adjusted accordingly during the layout and system planning phases. Similarly, the mechanical components were sized to provide the specific stroke required for the task at hand. Consequently, this application represents an adaptation rather than an entirely new development. This benefits the speed of planning, operational reliability, and—not least—the user’s costs.

Quick and safe sliding over at Farüchoc chocolate company

The corner converter at Farüchoc is an example of what is possible with our systems for the reliable and efficient handling of special products. It is not only proven in the food industry, for example with handling trays. It is also suitable in logistics as a sorting system when assigning shipping bags, padded envelopes and parcels to appropriate conveyor belts. We tailor the number, size, and guidance as well as the stroke of the push-over boards to the needs of our customers based on our many years of experience. Kindly tell us your requirements and provide us with some of your products. So we can use a test setup in our company to evaluate what is possible. The prerequisite for safe operation is a minimum height of the product of 0.39 inch (10 millimetres).
